Behaviour Based Observation

What is Behaviour Based Observation?

Behaviour Based Observation (BBO) is the “observation of the behaviour of people focusing on:
what people do
analyse why they do it, and
then to change at risk behaviour to safe behaviour”.
When do we do a Behavior Based Observation?
BBO’s are conducted on Workgroups to:
ascertain improvement opportunities and take note of current positive safety aspects
The first step to completing a Behaviour Based Observation (BBO) is to fill out the Safety Observation form.

An Observation can be either a:
Positive Safety Observation; or a
Safety Improvement Opportunity
