Wafi Safety setting high standards

 Wafi Safety setting high standards

The Safety Department has proactively revised the Wafi site induction package and is going through continuing in its improvement processes.
March 25 saw Wafi Safety Coordinator Bernice Suma, took time out to take new hire Royce Kiapen to 6 Rigs sites orientating him through the Wafi access roads and got him to do his Rig site inductions with the offsiders.
Royce was taken through the induction at the following rig sites, Juliet, India, Yankee, Kilo, Hotel and Whiskey rigs respectively. Although Royce wasn’t new on job, different workplace and drill sites had different hazards and risk areas. It was important he underwent the induction.
Ms Suma said they would ensure that new employees undergo a proper induction process with current company policies, standards, guidelines and procedures. We will also conduct walk around orientation in all the drill sites and different departments introducing new personals.
“It helps them feel and become part of the team on day one and build that bond. Too often, busy workplaces forego a proper orientation in the hopes that new recruits will 'figure it out' as they get to work, but for us safety department here in Wafi, it is different,” said Ms Suma.
Offsiders conducting inductions were really helpful and assisted very well. The team took advantage of the occasion to also inspect the drill sites and identify hazards and unsafe practices and effectively communicated with the crew members and took action to correct the situation.
